Tax credits are similar to accounts receivable, and as such can be used as collateral for short-term financing.
Although we refer to it as short-term financing, it can sometimes take more than a year from the time your company incurs the expense to the time you receive the tax credit.
There are a large number of federal and provincial tax credits to which your company may be entitled, depending on the sector of activity. In fact, strictly at the provincial level, for the 2022 tax year there are a few 44 corporate tax credits. Many of these credits are linked to companies' innovation efforts, such as R&D, design and programming.
