Too many companies still underestimate the threat of cyber attacks. While our environment As the world becomes increasingly digitalized, and technologies evolve at breakneck speed, we are more vulnerable to cyber-attacks, which are also evolving.
Organizations can no longer ignore these threats and must therefore develop genuine strategies from cyber security.
Environments increasingly conducive to cyber attacks
The number of connected objects has been growing steadily in recent years. We now speak of the Internet of Things. They are present not only in our private sphere, but also in our professional lives.
For a company, it is therefore increasingly complicated to manage all connected objects without a real cybersecurity policy. The Covid-19 pandemic has not improved the situation, since multiple confinements have greatly accelerated the application of remote working. This is forcing many organizations to review their cybersecurity in order to be able to offer a secure remote working environment.
Not to mention the e-business whose market share continues to grow, is also a victim of its own success. As a result, almost 40% of traffic to on line is represented by bots, i.e. computer programs performing automated tasks, often with malicious intent.

An increase in threats
As companies become increasingly digitalized, cyberthreats are also developing rapidly. Hackers and other cyber-criminals are well aware that they can take advantage of the many security loopholes and vulnerabilities in companies, which are often still in a transitional and learning phase when it comes to cybersecurity.
So, since the start of 2020, global ransomware attacks have increased by 151%. Canada is no exception, suffering a veritable ransomware epidemic. On average, this type of attack costs a Canadian company $6.35 million.
Remember that ransomware is malicious software that recovers personal data and then demands a ransom from the owner if they want their data back. It's one of the most common attacks, as it enables cybercriminals to extort money with relative ease.
Other threats include account takeover (ATO), credit card fraud Web scraping, API abuse, grinch bots and DDoS (distributed denial of service) attacks.
