Doran, North American economist<\/strong>.<\/p><p>The SMART objective method has a very specific goal: to set<\/p><ul><li>objectives <strong>clear<\/strong>,<\/li><li>that will <strong>understandable by all parties<\/strong> stakeholders in a <a href=\"https:\/\/sadc.org\/en\/what-is-design-thinking\/\">project<\/a>.<\/li><\/ul><p>In other words, the aim is to ensure that <a href=\"https:\/\/sadc.org\/en\/news\/corporate-strategy-guide\/\">targets set<\/a> within a company are understood by everyone and are therefore achievable.<\/p><p>This concept is based on five principles <strong>the acronym SMART<\/strong>\u00a0:<\/p><ol><li><strong>Specific<\/strong>\u00a0The purpose of the objectives you set must be precise and specific enough for everyone to understand.<\/li><li><strong>Measurable\u00a0<\/strong>You'll need to be able to measure whether or not you've achieved your objective.<\/li><li><strong>Ambitious\u00a0<\/strong>The objective must be both ambitious and challenging, without being unattainable. First of all, this method allows you to set perfectly attainable goals. This means you can <strong>avoid settling year after year<\/strong>goals that will prove impossible to achieve.<\/p><p>To this end, the SMART method helps to ensure better time management within a company. This method makes it possible to <strong>set clear, precise deadlines<\/strong> to achieve a particular goal.<\/p><p>In addition, setting SMART objectives helps to improve your management techniques. <a href=\"https:\/\/sadc.org\/en\/news\/how-to-introduce-hybrid-working-in-your-organization\/\">management<\/a>By entrusting your projects to employees who are capable of fulfilling them. All the more so as it enables them to carry out ambitious tasks without being out of their depth. It's a way of rewarding employees for their work, and recognizing their skills and professionalism.<\/p><h2>Our tips for setting SMART goals<\/h2><p>Applying the concept of SMART objectives is not in itself complicated. All you have to do is follow each of the concept's main principles. However, it does require you to think carefully about the type of goals you're going to set yourself, and the resources you're going to use to achieve them.<\/p><p>The first piece of advice we can give you is<\/p><ul><li>from <strong>set a broad objective first<\/strong>,<\/li><li>and make it more and more <strong>more precise<\/strong> thanks to<strong> five concept principles<\/strong>. This technique will enable you to create a SMART goal.<\/li><\/ul><p>So.., <strong>in the first instance<\/strong>will involve <strong>think about the purpose of your project\u00a0<\/strong>What are the benefits to your company of achieving this objective?<\/p><p>The next step is to <strong>set up a method that will enable you to measure<\/strong> whether the objective has been achieved (e.g. measuring the <a href=\"https:\/\/sadc.org\/en\/entrepreneurial-support\/guide-to-budget-preparation-and-business-planning\/\">sales volume<\/a> before and after reaching your goal).<\/p><p>Visit <strong>THIRD STEP<\/strong> will involve measuring <strong>the resources you have<\/strong> and estimate the efforts you'll need to make to reach that goal. This will enable you to set a goal that is both ambitious and achievable. To make this goal realistic, you'll also need to identify the main <a href=\"https:\/\/sadc.org\/en\/news\/know-your-companys-strengths-and-weaknesses-with-the-ffom-analysis\/\">obstacles<\/a> that may reduce your chances of achieving your goal. This is the fourth step in setting SMART goals.<\/p><p>Finally comes the <strong>last stage<\/strong>\u00a0that of <strong>set a deadline<\/strong> in the realization of your project. This deadline should take into account the difficulty of the objective and the number of obstacles you may encounter.<\/p><p>The SMART objective is a method for setting objectives <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>both ambitious and achievable<\/strong><\/span>.
